"When it comes to the negative, we as black people do not have the luxury of being individuals. A negative action by one is seen as a representation of us all."
This section is designed to demonstrate our conduct as black people in America. We define our conduct as the behaviors we should adhere to in order to complete our lofty goals. We are working off of the assumption that society and media look at us differently than that of other races and ethnicities. The first thing we must admit, we as black people in this country do not have the luxury of being individuals. When a crime is committed by one of us and shown on the local or national news, that is generally seen as a reflection on us all. That's generally not what we see when it comes to other races - generally speaking they have the luxury of being individuals. Is it fair - no. But that's the way that it is. Knowing this can help guide our conduct. We generally have to work harder, and because the spotlight is constantly on us, we should be mindful of the negative impact this can have.
