Don't Fall For Misleading Food Labels by Keisha Bates
The food industry is in the business of making money, that's their job. The business of staying as healthy as possible by not ingesting harmful chemicals - that's our job. It's up to us to be able to identify these potentially harmful chemicals. There are numerous chemical preservatives, taste enhancers, and modified sugars that the food industry add to our foods. These chemicals allow the food to stay on the shelf longer, which reduces profit loss for the manufacturer. The modified sugars add flavor to the food, keeping us as consumers, coming back for more of their product. This is a good deal for them, but it can be harmful to us. This is why we must be smart when choosing the food we put into our bodies. The first step of choosing the right foods and eliminating the wrong food is learning how and what to read on food labels.
