As black people the two most important aspects of our physical health are what we eat and how often we exercise. Both are equally important in our quest to battle obesity, heart disease, and cancer. When you are trying to get healthy it may seem like a chore. Below are a few tricky ways to incorporate exercise in our everyday life. A healthy community is a strong community.
Even if you already have a workout plan, incorporate these easy tricks.
*When you go to the grocery or any store for that matter, go inside the store and walk up and down each aisle twice before you start shopping. *Park farther away from your work, the store, etc. A lot of us try to park as close to the entrance as possible - try doing the opposite. A little goes a long way.
*Take the stairs whenever possible, avoid escalators and elevators.
*Create little habits such as doing 10 push ups before you shower and/or 10 jumping jacks. Try doing sit ups before an after a restroom break.
*While watching TV, try doing sit ups during the commercial breaks.
*At work during your break take a walk around the building, go up and down stairs. This will give you some exercise as well as clear your mind.
*When you are standing in line or hanging in the waiting room flex your abs, and hold for 10 seconds - repeat this 10 times.
